RoundtableEU-RFC position paper: “A TARGETED REFORM OF THE EU SECURITISATION FRAMEWORK IS KEY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE DIGITAL AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSITION”

The European Union Roundtable of Financial Centres (EU-RFC) convened in Brussels in February 2025 to develop a position paper outlining strategies to enhance the competitiveness of the European financial sector. We invite you to review the full document.

During the meeting, key challenges and priorities for strengthening and supporting the European financial industry were identified, with revitalizing the EU securitization market highlighted as a top priority. A comprehensive competitiveness strategy was deemed essential to ensure the EU remains globally competitive, particularly in critical areas such as capital markets.

Eliminating regulatory barriers across all EU member states—especially in smaller capital markets—was identified as a crucial step. Citing the latest research and reports, participants emphasized that regulatory inefficiencies pose the most significant threat to the EU financial ecosystem. In response, the EU-RFC urged the European Commission to act swiftly in implementing effective reforms and welcomed the Commission’s commitment to introducing a targeted legislative proposal by the end of Q2.
